STI Guide

It makes sense to be screened for STIs when you visit bpas as unplanned pregnancy might not be the only outcome of your contraception failing or unprotected sex. Sexually Transmitted Infections – commonly know as STIs are infections that can be caught and spread through sexual contact. The best way to avoid STIs is to use a condom every time you have sex.

Some STIs show signs a few days after you get infected while others have no symptoms at all. If you don’t know you are infected and you don’t get treated, they can cause serious problems later on in life.

If you are worried that you might have a Sexually Transmitted Infection you can get free, confidential advice and treatment from your GP or from specialist clinics in your area (even if you're under 16). Most hospitals have special clinics called genitourinary medicine (GUM) clinics that give tests and treatment for STIs. Most STIs can be treated easily so don't be scared of having a test and getting a positive result. Click here to find STI testing services near you.

bpas is able to provide convenient and discreet STI testing and treatment for a broad range of conditions by post. Click here to find out more about STI testing by post.
