British Pregnancy Advisory Service (BPAS) is coordinating the first James Lind Alliance (JLA) Priority Setting Partnership (PSP) dedicated to abortion care in the UK, working closely with partners and stakeholders across the abortion care sector.
This initiative will bring together patients, carers, clinicians, researchers, and support organisations to identify the top 10 research priorities for abortion care. Our aim is to ensure that future research reflects the real needs and experiences of those who receive, provide, and support abortion services.
Through the JLA’s established and transparent methodology - including national surveys, evidence reviews, and stakeholder workshops - the Abortion Care Research PSP will bring together diverse voices to identify the unanswered questions that matter most.

Our Team
The Abortion Care Research PSP is led by Dr Patricia Lohr (Director of Research & Innovation at BPAS) and coordinated by Chloe Hanse (Research & Engagement Lead at BPAS).
It is supported by two CoSRH Clinical Fellows, Dr Angharad Dixon and Dr Grace Swann.
The PSP is supported by a Steering Group. The Steering Group oversees the PSP, organises and completes its activities, and is ultimately accountable for key decisions made about the PSP.
