CRRC Blog: Writing Guidelines for Authors

The CRRC Blog is a space for sharing fresh ideas and research that support access to evidence-based reproductive healthcare and informed choices. While our primary focus is on abortion and contraception, we also welcome contributions on related topics such as pregnancy, health data, public health, and epidemiology.

Our aim is to provide an informal platform for researchers, healthcare professionals, and policymakers to exchange knowledge and spark conversation across the sector. Blog posts are written in an accessible, non-specialist style, making them suitable for a broad audience, including patients and the public.

We invite contributors from all research disciplines to share their work and reflections. This might include:

  • Insights from ongoing or published research
  • Overviews of wider programmes of work
  • Reflections on under-reported issues
  • Commentary on the impact of a particular project
  • Opinion pieces from sector leaders

If you have an idea or perspective to share, we’d love to hear from you.

Why write for the CRRC Blog?

  • Share your work with a wide audience: Our blog provides a platform for your work, which is accessible to both patients and providers.
  • Increase your work’s visibility: Blogs are featured on BPAS’s staff intranet page and shared on the CRRC’s social media pages.
  • Contribute to the conversation: Share your views, help inform and inspire others working in reproductive health.

Writing guidelines:

  • Blogs should be 500-700 words.
  • The tone should be accessible, in lay English. If you use specialist terms, please define them on first use.
  • Include hyperlinks for any references or resources you mention.
  • You’re welcome to add a further reading list at the end, if relevant.
  • Please include a short author bio and a photo to accompany your post.

We’d love to hear from you. To pitch an idea or express interest in writing for the CRRC Blog, please email us at research@bpas.org.

A member of our team will get in touch to discuss your idea and agree on a realistic timeline for drafting and publication. All submissions will be reviewed by our research team.
