bpas statement on recent anti-abortion activity and public responses
bpas would like to thank those who, in response to a recent upsurge in anti-abortion activity in London and the South-East, have delivered gifts to our centres, sent messages of support for the services and assistance we provide, and on occasion even escorted women inside.
bpas is very supportive of freedom of speech, and believes the minority opposed to abortion are fully entitled to campaign to change the law. We will gladly debate those opposed to what we do and defend why we believe what we provide is not just necessary but moral. But the failure of this minority to persuade the majority that a woman should not be able to end a pregnancy does not give them the right to hector and intimidate individual women as they try to access services to which they are legally entitled.
